Product description & details

Ideally suited as a starting population for breeding or feeding snails.

The bladder snail, Physa marmorata, is a small but extremely hard-working species of snail that keeps the aquarium clean. In addition, it is very easy to care for and easy to reproduce. The bladder snail is one of the smallest representatives of its kind, measuring just one centimeter in size. With its brown-greenish shell with light spots, it also looks pretty. It is also popular in the aquarium because it is an inconspicuous omnivore. It destroys all algae in the tank and therefore not only does not require any additional food, but also keeps the water clean. As a peaceful aquarium resident, it is ideal for any aquarium. At the same time, it is completely undemanding when it comes to water temperature, hardness and quality.

As a hermaphrodite, the bladder snail can reproduce extremely quickly. It deposits its egg strings on aquatic plants or aquarium decorations, where the young animals can then hatch. Because it is easy to reproduce, this snail is ideal for breeding as food for puffer fish, larger crabs or other snail eaters.

Carefully take the animals out of the bag/transport container and the wrapped kitchen roll and place them together with the transport water (if available) or with water from the target tank in a sufficiently large container. Give the animals enough time to get used to the room temperature, especially in winter. Please DO NOT place the animals near a heat source – so do not let the bag with the animals float on the surface of the water near the aquarium lamp. Once the snails/clams have come to room temperature, they can be carefully inserted into the new aquarium without transport water. Ideally, snails are placed with their feet down on the ground.
Please note that snails can be inactive for a long time, especially in winter, after temperatures fluctuate significantly, and give the animals enough time to venture out.
