Product description & details
In nature, many of our aquarium fish, amphibians and invertebrates feed on small insects and their larvae as well as other small aquatic animals. Giving live food represents a very natural and optimal diet for these species.
Red mosquito larvae, also known as bloodworms, are ideal for feeding medium to large aquarium animals from around 3cm. Since they slowly sink to the bottom, they are especially popular with the bottom-near animals. Red mosquito larvae, which are the larvae of nonbiting midges of the genus Chironomus, have a high protein and fiber content and a low fat content, which is why they can be fed more often. They are ideal for medium to large fish, crabs, amphibians such as axolotls or newts and are also often eaten by shrimp – especially the large arm shrimp (Macrobrachium), which have a primarily carnivorous diet. The administration of red mosquito larvae can significantly increase the willingness to reproduce, especially in fish.
Our live food is delivered every Wednesday (rarely Thursday) and can be shipped “express” the same day. For larger order quantities, shipping might be delayed by 1 week.
