Product description & details
The Green Laser Corydoras – also known as Corydoras ‘Neon Green Stripe’ – originally comes from South America, where it is found in rivers and streams with muddy bottoms, mainly in Venezuela and Peru. This beautifully shimmering green and gold cory catfish grows to about 7 cm in size.
Care in the aquarium
Classically for Corydoras, the Green Laser Corydoras is a schooling fish that feels comfortable with at least 8 members of its species. In an aquarium that has an edge length of at least 60cm (better 80cm), it needs a fine, non-sharp-edged substrate as well as sufficient hiding places in the form of plants and, for example, catfish caves, roots or stones. The Green Laser Corydoras is quite easy to keep if these needs are met.
Feeding
The Green Laser Corydoras is an omnivore, so it can be fed a variety of sinking live and frozen foods, as well as green food and sinking commercial fish food.
Sexual characteristics and breeding
The females of the Green Laser Cory Catfish are recognizable by their fuller build and are slightly larger than the males. The Corydoras’ willingness to spawn can be increased by feeding it well and first lowering the water by around 2-3 degrees and then increasing it back to the original temperature. This Corydoras is an egg-laying fish that attaches up to 100 eggs to the plants or hardscape of the aquarium. For targeted breeding, the eggs should be hatched and raised in a separate breeding tank. About 2 – 3 days after hatching, the young animals can be fed with newly hatched Artemia nauplii or dust food.
